The First Battalion 558th Infantry Explorers is a Military Explorer Post located at the Los Alamitos (AFRC) Armed Service Training Center
in California. We are under the direction of the Boy Scouts of America, sponsored by the 160th (LRS) DET of the California Army National Guard. The Guard is dedicated to helping us develop young men and women into the leaders of the community tomorrow.
While the goal of development for these cadets is not unlike the goal of the rest of the Boy Scouts of America Explorer program,
the path on which our young leader embark is a different one.
The young men and women know as cadets will slowly move up in rank and responsibility as they mature and become more exposed
to proper military training and leadership. When deemed ready the cadet becomes an Assistant Team Leader.
The cadet will continue to receive additional leadership training and given increasing responsibilities.

We are looking for young people between the ages of 14 to 21 years old
who want to belong to our "unit". In our "unit", we build leader of tomorrow for our communities.

The Post is also active in community service. In the passed years, during the holiday season, we have collected and distributed
clothing to the elderly. For needy families we have collected food, clothing and toys. We also were involved for many years
with Marine Military Police at El Toro with traffic control at the annual air show.
Even though we are a Military Explorer Post, our goal is not to build warriors. We use the discipline and experience of military training
to build confidence in young people who will respond to the needs of their community.
Meetings are held Sundays, from 2:00pm-5:00pm
at the Joint Forces Training Base, Los Alamitos (3980 Constitution Ave, Los Alamitos).
